This course will equip you with a basic understanding of airfield lighting systems, its components how they operate and how they perform to ensure a compliant lighting system is maintained at your aerodrome.

The course is intended as an introduction for people working on airports who have not received specialist training on airfield lighting or as a refresher for those who already have some experience.

Note: This is not an electrical qualification but provides those with qualifications an overview of lighting in an airport context.

The course is aimed at new Airport Reporting Officers (AROs) and Works Safety Officers (WSOs) and for those individuals already in these roles who are looking to maintain and improve their knowledge and skills in the performance of their duties.

The course provides the theoretical knowledge for those who perform an ARO or WSO role (which are often combined) at an airport or Aerodrome.

The full-length course details the skills and knowledge required to facilitate the safety of aerodrome operations, in compliance with the regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and national operating standards. The course also addresses aviation non-technical skill requirements related to safety management duties of ground operations personnel and contributes to safe and effective performance in complex aviation operational environments.

This course is designed to be used in conjunction with field / operational based assessments.

The Wildlife Hazard Management course equips aerodrome personnel with the knowledge and practical skills required to effectively identify, assess, and manage wildlife hazards in the aerodrome environment. Designed for the Australian aviation context, the course provides a clear understanding of relevant aerodrome legislation, documentation requirements, and the key roles and responsibilities of aerodrome staff in maintaining safe operations.

Participants will explore the types of wildlife commonly encountered on Australian aerodromes and the environmental and operational factors that encourage wildlife presence. The course also covers the development of a robust wildlife hazard management plan, practical control measures to reduce wildlife risks, and best-practice approaches to the reporting and management of wildlife incidents.

Developed by Southpac Aerospace and delivered in partnership with the AAA, this course provides the essential knowledge and skills required under the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005 for staff working in Australian aviation security environments. It equips participants – particularly those operating in or requiring access to Security Restricted Areas (SRAs) – with the essential subjects required under regulation along with the knowledge and skills to maintain a secure aviation environment.

The course supports strong security culture across airports, airlines, RACA operations, inflight supplies, and contracted services. Participants gain a clear understanding of potential threats, foundational security measures, access control processes, and their responsibilities in supporting an effective security program. This interactive e-learning ensures learners are confident, compliant, and capable of contributing to secure operations, aligned with both national and international aviation security standards.

On completion, participants receive a certificate of attendance valid for 24 months, in line with regulatory requirements.
